Oscar's Sanctuary will have several ambulances, a large boat for rescuing animals on lakes, and a semi with a trailer to enable us to pick up our patients within a 500-miles area. We can airlift critically ill or injured patients by helicopter. Any time we need to pick up an animal that is in critical condition, we will have the equipment to do so.
Texas veterinary colleges will be a part of our programs at Oscar's Sanctuary. We expect to house at least five Veterinary Specialists in this facility. Lab personnel, X-ray technicians, Pathologists, and the personnel to handle MRI's and CAT scans will be on site. We expect colleges in the state of Texas to take the responsibility for developing and furnishing a Research Facility with up-to-date computers and equipment. All of these folk will make a difference in our lives.
Oscar's Sanctuary wants to do much more than provide a facility for ill and injured animals. It will have an adoption and placement center. Every year thousands of wild creatures lose their lives on the highways. We appreciate the fact that some states are recognizing the need to provide animals with safe ways to cross highways that pass through their habitat. But additional, more effective, and wide-spread measures must be taken. Oscar's Sanctuary is developing innovative and effective ways to protect animals and humans from colliding on the highways.
Oscar's Sanctuary will be a state of the art facility, the Cornerstone for the next sanctuary to be built in another state.
